Selecting a Project
How do I choose a project? Selecting a project to sponsor can be a meaningful and deeply personal decision. Many choose projects based on states they grew up in, places they have traveled or causes they deeply care about. Alternatively, you can support one of our existing NGO partners through donor-advised funding. Share & Care Foundation guides you through this process, ensuring projects are vetted for eligibility and compliance. We work with experienced charitable organizations to ensure quality, cost-effective, and sustainable development projects. Our team visits projects regularly, monitors progress, and evaluates impact.
Facilitating Sponsored Projects
- Share & Care Foundation (SCF) facilitates your chosen project, provided the recipient organization complies with our established guidelines and procedures.
- Both the donor and the recipient organization must agree to abide by the project’s rules throughout its duration.
- Allows donors to monitor the progress of the project, if they wish.
- Sponsored NGOs in India are required to complete all necessary forms as per SCF guidelines.

Grant Process
Grant applicants must submit their proposals electronically. Important points for potential donors to note include:
- Checks are deposited only after grant approval.
- Once deposited, checks are non-refundable. If a project cannot proceed or comply with SCF conditions, the donor will be offered an alternative project.
- Other acceptable assets include publicly traded securities (stocks). You can eliminate or maximize capital gain tax on long term appreciated assets, held over a year, by donating the asset to Share and Care. We liquidate the asset and use the funds to support your selected program that we offer or send funds to a qualified charitable organization in India to support a cause selected by you.
- Our administrative and due diligence process takes approximately 4–6 weeks.
- Grants over $50,000 can be disbursed in two installments, in consultation with the donor.

Q: Can I support the project of my choice?
A: Yes, you can choose to support a project that aligns with your interests and values.
Q: Does SCF charge a fee?
A: Yes, a 4% fee of your total donation will be accepted as your contribution to the Share & Care Foundation for administrative expenses in evaluating and ascertaining compliance for IRS and Homeland Security purposes, as well as Indian Government regulations.
Q: Is there a minimum donation?
A: We prefer a minimum of $5,000 for efficiency and scalability. This can be a combined total from multiple donors contributing to the same project.
